A welcome from Sue Passmore, Chair of ISTD
Thank you for expressing an interest in the work of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
The ISTD has served the world of dance as an Examination Board for more than a century, and throughout the decades we have strived successfully to maintain and nurture quality assurance in all our work as an International Society. As a long serving Trustee I have always been inspired by the work achieved, and the loyalty and commitment of the membership has always been its strength.
I am delighted to announce that we are entering a new period of growth supported by a three-year strategic business plan that defines all our organisational priorities. A full Governance Review recently took place to ensure that we are a professional, fit for purpose and central organisation that is valued by its membership and the public. We are reviewing our board structure and wish to attract new Trustees to join us.
We want to demonstrate better our role as an appealing, confident, relevant and consistent global leader in dance education. We are benchmarked in best practice and our syllabi, teacher training and professional development are acknowledged as the first choice for those seeking a serious career in dance.
The ISTD is embarking on a re-branding, and we are delighted that a major new contemporary dance syllabus was launched in 2018. A digital examination system and an on-line learner management system for trainee teachers is in place.
We have recently established partnerships with Royal Opera House, also with One Dance UK and the University of Bedfordshire in order to broaden the socio-demographic range of students and increase access to our programmes and training. We are building organisational capacity so that we have the resources in place to achieve our future plans.
We hope you feel that you could offer your experience and energy to our committed and enthusiastic Board of Trustees and be part of shaping the future vision of our ambitious dance charity.
With best wishes
